Description:
A crisp about uncirculated or better one English pound banknote. This banknote was issued in the period 1966 through 1970 and is deep green in color on multi colored underprint. It shows a young Queen Elizabeth facing left to the right of the front. The back has the same color scheme as the front and displays the image of Britannia seated and facing left right of center with the denomination spelled out in the center. The back also displays the denomination both in numbers in the corners and spelled out in several spots. The banknote has a watermark showing the head of a woman wearing a laurel in a continuous vertical row at the left edge of the front. The note is signed by J S Fforde the Chief Cashier the Bank of England at the time and has the prefix S61J. This particular note has the serial number 447968 and has a security thread which is vertical and is located right of center if you look at the front of the note. Please carefully review the scan as they are part and parcel of our description.

I would grade this banknote as a crisp about uncirculated or much better with all the details being well preserved. The note has no folds, creases, tears, pinholes or graffiti. The note is clean with no stains and no splits. The corners are squared and sharp with no rounding. The note has some waviness to it and a bump or two at the corner and hence our about uncirculated grading instead of the straight Uncirculated. These are most likely due to miss handling as opposed to circulation. It has no obvious wear that we can identify. Please see photo for additional condition information.
