    1991 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway Twin Turbo
    At the time, the Callaway Twin-Turbo Corvette was quite simply one of the most powerful automobiles ever certified for sale by the EPA. It's turbocharged and intercooled 5.7-liter V-8 put out a staggering 382 horsepower-more power than any U.S.-spec model then sold by Ferrari or Porsche. In fact, only one U.S.-market car at the time could top the Callaway's formidable power rating: the Lamborghini Countach, which belted out 425 hp. Even Chevrolet's forthcoming Corvette ZR-1 was hard pressed to outpower the Callaway Twin-Turbo.
    For consignment, putting out a staggering 382hp with a twin turbo mod, courtesy of Reeves Calloway, which turned out 2-3 versions of this car each week. Our consignment with fiberglass bathed in Polo Green, rear greenhouse glass and a black leather interior, has some excellent small change in design features that even though first present as subtle, all add up to high performance in the form of a 1991 Corvette Twin Turbo thrill ride.
    Exterior
    This Callaway, in the eyes of some beholders, also offers a sleeker look than the standard C4s, with its Sledgehammer-inspired Aerobody and Z5G package that featured a deeper front air dam, 4 openings for extra air in the front just below the hood hinges, and the essential hidden headlights. Just behind the front wheel well is a large vented opening foregoing the standard Corvette cove seen on everyday models of this same year. Black trimmings for the glass and handles, and the Mazda Miata-esque dual eyeball taillights, and large oval exhaust outlets below the neoprene bumper. Also noted on the rear quarter just aft of the rear wheel well, is another lean horizontal ribbed opening vent presumably to help cool the brakes. 17-inch turbine style wheel coverings trim out wide all season radials on all 4 corners.
    Interior
    Opening the black molded door coverings all neatly packaged in panels and curved outcroppings for the power toggles and joysticks we see some satin silver accenting in plastic, and even black carpeting panels for the lowers. Inside like new leather racing style buckets are in and these have nifty side bolsters to hold you in while you are carving a curve. Also seen on the sides are the seat 3 position memory buttons for the driver. A sleek center console which houses the power seat adjusters and touring and performance dial to change the suspension on the fly, are mounted in just behind the shift lever. The dash on this version has become more curved, and still houses the large warning light panel above an aftermarket Clarion AM/FM/CD/Cassette Digital sound system. Noted just below the radio is a Callaway gauge to measure boost pressure. Also, a Callaway tag designating this as car as number 42 on the build ticker. In front of the driver is a cascade of pointer analog gauges and in the center is an orange LED readout for fuel level and speed, as well as digital mileage which is showing an actual 36,112 miles. Nice clean black carpet floods the floors, and the original steering wheel is present and accounted for. In back behind the buckets and under the curved greenhouse glass is a black carpeted multi level storage area.
    Drivetrain
    The stout 8 banger in 350ci L98 form is under the hood. This sports EFI and of course the Calloway signature Rotomaster twin turbos to help it conger up more horses. A ZF 6-speed manual transmission is on back along with a 3.07 axle. This engine has a forged crank with premium rods and low compression 7.5:1 pistons from Mahle. Stainless steel intake valves and valve springs are added in for extra durability.
    Undercarriage
    Our example makes heavy use of the aero panels underneath and these are all in very good condition. Independent forged aluminum front suspension parts are standard, and on back is an independent 5 link with tow and camber adjustment and more forged aluminum control arms and steering knuckle, along with transverse mono-leaf springs with steel tie rods. Power disc brakes bring you back to earth on your ticket into the superhighway system of the USA!
    Drive-Ability
    This Calloway is the most powerful Corvette I've had the pleasure to drive, and I didn't even scratch the surface of its potential on our test track. A quick starter, smooth runner and nice handling. It can come to a panic stop on a dime. The seats are comfy and sporty, and I noticed the service ride control light was illuminated.
    Another interesting low number out of factory modded Callaway Engine Corvette for consignment. Looking and driving will have you saying "Toto, we're not in Bowling Green anymore!"
