The 1959 Corvette was the first Corvette that featured Bill Mitchell's new styling touch. After Harley Earl retired in 1958, Mitchell set to work to undo some of the chrome excess of 1958's Corvette. Gone were the hood vents and chrome trunk suspenders, while inside the seat upholstery pattern changed from 58's vertical pattern to a more common horizontal pattern and a T-handle was added to the manual transmission cars. This gorgeous 1959 Corvette is finished in Snowcrest White with Inca Silver coves, manual white vinyl soft top, and the optional vented full wheel discs with white wall tires. To say this car has a classic beauty would be an extreme understatement, and it draws you in with it's styling and classic sports car simplicity. The toothed chrome grill with chrome bumpers are at once powerful and elegant, while the flowing lines of the rear fenders and frenched in tail lamps make this a site to behold weather its coming at you or going past. Inside the excellent bright red interior you'll find a new for 59' 7k rpm tachometer with a safe limit and the passenger grab bar, essential in a Corvette!! The upholstery and carpets are in as new condition, and the thoughtful additions of a newer AM/FM/Cassette radio and air conditioning make this a much more enjoyable cabin to spend time in. Under the hood is the venerable small block Chevy v-8, this one in the 283CI flavor with a single four barrel producing 230 horsepower. This is mated to a four speed synchromesh manual transmission handing off power to a positraction equipped 3.70:1 rear axle. Brakes are hydraulically actuated 11 drums at all four corners, and bring this beauty to a secure halt. The dual exhaust exiting inside the rear bumperettes plays a classic muscle car melody, and the low cut wrap around windshield inspire a classic sporty driving feel that cannot be replicated in todays automobiles.
